Call for Men's stories

Vineyards Press will be publishing Men's Stories, an anthology of men's writing, in 2007.

Each story in Men's Stories will be
  a true story,
    written by a man,
about something that happened to him,
and that could only have happened to a man.

These stories may be about our rites of passage,
  our rituals,
our relationships with the women in our lives,
and with our fathers, brothers, and sons,
our phases of life, our rites of passage,
our loves and wars, our work and play.

But they must show who men are - reveal us, tell our truths.

Your submission may be of any length, but brevity is always powerful,
and we are looking for powerful, deftly-written stories.

Your entry may be previously published or un-published, but you must own the copyright or have permission to reprint the previously published work. It must be received by July 31, 2006,and you must own the right to publish this story in a book.

Publication in Men's Stories will pay with 2 copies of the book. Subsequent copies will be available to Men's Stories authors at 40% off list, plus shipping.

To see the type of story we are seeking, please order the March/April, 2001 issue of Storytelling Magazine, "The Men's Issue," from the National Storytelling Network, at 1-800-525-4514.

Vineyards Press' publisher, Bill Amatneek, was the guest editor of that issue, which became the magazine's most successful issue to date. It has the kinds of stories we are looking for: frank, revealing, passionate, true to heart.

Here are four stories from this issue:
"One On One" by Bill Harley
"A Bell For Shorty" by Jim May
"Am I A Man Yet?" by Don Doyle
"Lei Queen Contest" by Jeff Gere

Please take a moment to read them so you may see the kinds of stories that made "The Men's Issue" so successful.

Please Submit Your Story in the body of an e-mail (NOT as an attachment).
